Ep: 013 - Origin Story 2 - New Host, New Season

July 15, 2018

Dina Brodsky, Marshall Jones and Tun Myaing

New host, new engineer, more great guests... a lot is going on at Art Grind, and we wanted to give our listeners an update as to the changes. We're very excited to have one-time guest and long-time friend and colleague Dina Brodsky on as our third host alongside Marshall Jones and Tun Myaing for this new phase of the Art Grind Podcast. As we witnessed during her interview, Dina is an exquisite storyteller -- having devoted the better part of her life to the investigation of the eclectic -- as well as an incredible painter. Having traversed the dotted landscape of the New York art underbelly, she's also a remarkable socialite and interviewer. In upcoming Art Grind episodes, listeners will get to hear Dina's input on the experiences and stories of all kinds of personalities in the art world. In this installment, we take some time to reiterate Art Grind's mission, what it means to us, and what we're hoping to accomplish looking forward. Meanwhile, Kim Power will be moving on to future projects. Her recent successful collaboration with artist Melanie Vote as co-curator of the Natural Proclivities exhibition at the Shirley Fiterman Art Center has inspired her to delve further into curatorial projects. Kim will soon be starting her own blog featuring artist interviews and art reviews. Additionally, Kim will be launching an art writing business, helping out her fellow artists with artist statements, grants, residency applications and more! A selection of her paintings from her current series This Land will be on exhibit, along with other artist residents from the Artists Off Grid residency (headed up by artist Caitlin Hurd), at Abend Gallery in 2019. For those of you wishing to keep up with Kim and her projects, be sure to follow her on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/kap_kapow/ and https://www.instagram.com/thisland_kimpower/, as well as her current website: http://kimpower.net/ and on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/KimPowerCreations/
